Pray then Play Sports started when our Children’s Pastor at First Baptist Church High Springs got tired of losing kids to city league sports on Wednesday Nights and Sunday mornings. There was a real need in children’s sports to allow all kids to play not just the All Stars. It was time for the kids to stop playing sports on church nights and practicing 3 to 4 nights a week.

God blessed us with the facilities and with the manpower to get the job done. We showed our community that Christians could have fun and be positive role models for kids and families.

We demonstrated that sports are a great way to reach the kids and families in our community and that they would come to us. We didn’t have to knock on the first door to share the love of Christ!

EVERYONE PLAYS
We learned that sports are a great way to reach families for Christ and bring churched and un-churched people together. We heard that parents were looking for extracurricular activities for their sons and daughters to be a part of and they were already participating in other organizations for these activities.

We asked why the church can’t get involved in these activities. From this, Pray then Play Sports was developed in the spring of 2002. The league began with Flag Football and has grown now to include Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Cheerleading, Gymnastics, and Tae Kwon Do.
